The department also coordinates the local and state assessment programs, assists with test preparation, analyzes test results to provide data to administrators and teachers in support of continuous improvement in student achievement. One of the challenges for the department is the facilitation of a comprehensive plan for the implementation of the new online Ohio Assessments for students in grades 3-12. These tests replace the pencil and paper state testing system.
