Sylvania Virtual Academy

What is SVA?

Sylvania Virtual Academy (SVA) is an educational program that is part of the Sylvania City Schools system. SVA provides an alternative to the traditional high school experience for those students who may need an alternative environment. Our program is based on the Ohio Department of Education's credit flexibility model and includes an individualized student plan centered around a mastery learning instructional model.

SVA is staffed by high school licensed teachers who are also certified as intervention specialists. Students who reside in the Sylvania Schools district boundaries may attend and are subject to the same district guidelines as traditional learners. All students, currently seated and new enrollees, must complete an application to be considered for admission.  The SVA program has a maximum seat capacity of 60 students per section and has in the past experienced a high demand. Students may be wait-listed and expected to attend traditional school until a seat becomes available.

SVA students are still students at their home schools (Northview or Southview) and may participate in extracurriculars. Also, students who attend SVA and complete graduation requirements in SVA will receive a diploma from the home school. The SVA is located at Sylvania Southview High School.
