News & Updates from the Sylvania Schools Safety & Security Committee
The Sylvania Schools Safety & Security Committee has been meeting monthly since 2011. The committee is led by Keith Limes, Assistant Superintendent of Operations. Teachers, support staff, administrators, parents, as well as representatives from local law enforcement and the fire department are on the committee.
Major accomplishments that stemmed from this committee:
- ALiCE training, implementation, videos
- Lexan glass installed
- Secondary door restraints
- GO buckets
- Signage for afterschool events
- Behavior Threat Assessments
- Nims Training
- Safe rooms in all schools equipped with police radios
- Cameras in the entryways
- De-escalation training
- Mental health professional development
- Sponsored West Liberty-Salem presentation to area school districts
- District-wide visitor information system
Public and Parent Events sponsored for parents and the community

- Digital Citizenship
