No Cost Meals for Reduced-Eligible Students: As part of the biennial state budget for school year 2024-2025, The State of Ohio is paying for breakfast and lunch for children who qualify for reduced price meals. You must fill out and submit the Free/Reduced meal application and qualify as reduced to receive this benefit.
Summer EBT: Households Who to Call About Benefits: The State of Ohio Office of Nutrition is hearing from school districts about households thinking they should not have received a Summer EBT card. Most cases appear linked to Medicaid. The Office of Medicaid just completed an “unwinding” process this past year which concluded in April 2024. This process restarted the annual Medicaid household application. Prior to this year, some households were carried over since the pandemic until their recertification date (of which they either reapplied or were discontinued off Medicaid). This has resulted in some households receiving the benefit that have not been actively on Medicaid for some time and has created some confusion. If you have questions about this, you can call the Summer EBT customer service number at 1-866-244-0071, option one to report any instances where you were never on free or reduced meals or Medicaid. Otherwise, households are instructed to destroy the cards if they do not wish to use the benefit.
